WOW. Maddy, I only know a little about you. It’s impossible for me to sit in judgment of your ENTIRE parenting skillset online. But it sure seems to me that you are a beautiful artist, mom, blogfriend, wife, and plenty of other stuff.

What people like anonymous don’t often understand is that autistic children usually require WAY more effort in raising than neurotypical kiddos. It doesn’t mean we think they’re less of a blessing (as is implied sometimes), more of a blessing, or whatever. Or that we’re totally wrapped up in our kids because parenting them well may mean a lot of extra effort, trial and error.

And we’re in a lot of unchartered waters in terms of “how to do this well.” We do the best we can, and reach out to other moms and dads to try to pull each other along.

You are a tremendous source of encouragement to me. :]
