I have been planning a sandwich party for as many years - American style [pot luck] where everyone brings their favourite kind of sandwich and we all swap [trade]. I can see them all laid out on the table, a veritable banquet, but each sandwich has one perfect semi circle missing and I have a very full tummy. Well the truth of the matter is, that everything should have been completed more than a couple of years ago, but I am a difficult case.

I have been planning a sandwich party for as many years – American style [pot luck] where everyone brings their favourite kind of sandwich and we all swap [trade].

I marveled throughout it that you still adhere to a morning structure (brushing teeth in the morning is a long-forgotten goal in my house...I just give the youngest an apple and call his mouth "freshened")--even that you wear a nightgown. I just sleep in my clothes from the day before or what I'll wear the next day. My daughter dresses for the next day the night before, so she's ready to go upon wakening. You are actively working on schedule and normalcy and predictability--all things I am very bad at with my own kids. But the moments with the hubby there? Perfectly perfect epiphanies. Probably b/c it got started back in the days of daycare/respite so the routine started early. It's "the Mom" that's the slow one... they are calmer and quieter first thing so I get my computer fix in quick. Now.. lets discuss mid-afternoons when everyone wants my attention/snacks/computer and it's time to get supper ready... sigh.... They have always been moody right about now and for the moment.. I'm hiding.. should have seen the goings on when we got back from library (eldest)/respite (youngest) and me on the phone with the guy from Excise (fed. gov't). Yeah, yeah... should have let the machine pick up the phone call.. but then they'd freak when it turned on. Normal isn't it :) Division of labour... that is?? Me 95%, him 5%... it's one of my major peeves and not going to change tomorrow. So, I've learned to get over it, and he's learned not to make "you really need to dust" comments.
