You describing what opera is reminds me of the time I tried to explain to one of my students my hobby of acting in a community theatre. Trying to sort out the fact that I had sisters in the play, but none in real life - the topic further muddied by the fact that the actor playing my dad happened to have the same name as my actual father... all the while I'm thinking, "How did I get myself into this conversation!?"

You have a great way of telling a story!

Made me a little nostalgic for the innocence and madness of children's conversations ...

definitely wise beyond their years. And you, too—we're all only scratching the surface. How perfect.

I loved this little dialogue, I learned a little something new about you and Puccini!!!

oh how marvelous! ok, true confessions. one of my favorite parts of a child's development is when they begin speaking in sentences. i love to hear the 'mistakes' and odd connections they come up with, not because it's overly cute or whatever but because the 'mistakes' and strange connections reveal so much about their thought processes. you may initially miss what their line of logic is but you sit and listen and work it through until you get it, that's quite wonderful.
