let me assure that in my 39 years as a born and bred american who has visited roughly 35 of the 50 states, in all my years and travels i have never once heard of a banana being referred to as a bling. don’t be too hard on yourself.

I have never heard of calling bananas “bling”. In fact, I was appalled when I was teaching the other night, and I asked my class the difference between the image of a Buddha and the image of a Bodhisattva, and a student replied, “The bodhisattvas have bling!”

And I had to stop and ask what she was talking about.

Because I am getting old.
