Priorities

He appears self dressed in his favourite T-shirt. Horray! I notice that favourite T-shirt is a tad snug. He has been fond of Curious George for many a long year and chortles gloriously at the mischievous tales. Since this was a welcome departure from Dinosaurs, and Thomas, my oldest daughter painted this specially designed creation with her own fair hands.

Delightfully, it was a hit. I grab my camera as for some reason I don't appear to have any record of it's existence and some time soon it will be relegated to the rag bag, threadbare and washed out.

As she walks into the kitchen I prompt, “show Nonna what you're wearing dear!”

He looks at Nonna.

He looks at me, with a certain degree of uncertainty.[*]

He pulls down the waist band of his trousers.

[*] A hint of social awareness maybe?

So much to share, so little time.

Getting there, slowly but surely ;)

  2. Trixie:

LOL! Well, think about it, Nonna could SEE what he was wearing, so of course, you must of meant what she COULDN’T see!

    Your daughter painted that shirt?

    Seriously?

    Brilliant!

  3. Club 166:

At first I thought you named your daughter Thomas. And I thought, “Well, they’re English. Maybe they just do that.”

Curious George is one of our favorites, too. Buddy Boy got the original book for his first birthday. It’s gotten a lot of use since then.

Be careful what you ask for, LOL!

That Curious George shirt is a delight. Good choice for a favorite!

Thanks for sharing!!! Cool shirt! …and self dressing is awesome! Way to go. :)

  6. farmwifetwo:

Well, everyone knows you don’t show Nonna your undies :)

Think Pokemon ranks over Curious George at the moment. My 8yr still enjoys CG in the mornings.

you know, that boy’s a lot smarter than me. last time someone asked me to “show Nonna what you’re wearing dear”, everyone in the room got really pissed when i showed them it wasn’t a bra.

Hi Maddy – Feel free to take the super commenter award and pass on. I would be quite honored if you did. Have a great day. :)

  13. Leanne:

Does he give you that look, you know, the ‘what could you possible be thinking by asking me to do this’ look??? Patrick makes me doubt my intelligence daily.

I can’t believe your daughter painted that shirt. It’s very well done indeed.

  14. Bobbi:

    Too cute and funny!

  15. graceunderautsim:

I thought exactly what Trixie did.

    The shirt is really cool!

    Pika. . . Pika. . . .CHOOOOOO!

    Gasundheit.

    ;)

I think that my son finally wore a shirt that was not emblazened with Thomas this past month: under duress. I am unsure if character clothing is a blessing or a curse. When he’s too big for Thomas underpants we’ll probably have to stop privately referring to him as “Thomas butt” (he tends to streak through the house wearing not a lot more).

I have, however, the best character clothing picture ever: my son is standing on a step stool, cooking. He’s wearing Thomas underpants, rubber rain boots, and an apron, and nothing else. He likes to be prepared.

Love Curious George! The shirt looks great!

Me again…Thank you for your kind and understanding words…and for the encouragement to stick it out!! Felt like a big ol’ hug. :)

HA! I just got persuaded to buy my 6 year old Pokemon underwear.

I love that he hesitated – he was weighing if he should do it.

  22. HAMMER:

    Picachu underwear…We only had spiderman

    How cute!

  27. Andrea:

What an awesome shirt!! And nice that he seems to be getting it about not showing your underoos! :-) Alas, I am still waiting for the day when my dear boy won’t take off his swim trunks because they got wet without his permission.

  28. Julie L.:

Ah, what a character–and a source of many, many great future stories I’m sure. Can emphasize with the not enough time part…

  29. Joeymom:

The shirt is beautiful! What a great job!

Sure you don’t want these trading cards?
