15 years in a nutshell [ish]

“Mary Lue” over at “Life the Universe and Everything” has tagged me for this meme. That’s what I call a dare!

Think back on the last 15 years of your life. What would you tell someone that you hadn't seen or talked to for 15 years? How would you sum up your life? You get 10 bullet points. A list of 10 things to summarize about you. At the end of your list, tag 5 more people and send on the love…

Since I am also taking “Karen’s” advice about being brave, this will be my first and only ever video of me. I did warn you that I can only count up to seven.

Wish I’d worn a suit!

Wish I had a suit!
Sorry about the ‘hat hair’ I had to wear my birthday crown.

Sorry about the jewels, I had to wear them all to avoid favouritism.

Wish I knew how to edit video tapes. Eeek!

Hope I don’t crack your screen.

Don’t forget to wipe the spit off!

I won’t be a big ol meany and tag anyone specifically but if you take up the challenge leave me a little linky poo.

Cheers dears

p.s. they weren’t alone in the house, their Dad and Nonna were holding the fort so I could have a minute of alone time with you. Hey! It’s my birthday! Wear a “dress!” From my barnyard to yours.

N.B. ‘Bedlam’ means chaotically noisy NOTHING else.  Ooo I wish I could edit.

Ooo that’s a good idea, I should have put a real arrow on my face!

You are beautiful, and hilarious, and brave! I loved it! Well done!!!!!!

  2. farmwifetwo:

I got as far as 20 secs or so… where you take your glasses off. It loads slow. The little one kept saying “turn it OFF!!!”… I swear it was the sound… not the picture.. Honest!!!

You are much more brave than I to do a video and post it of yourself.

    Hugs!!!

    Sheri

  3. farmwifetwo:

Little boy started yelling “turn it OFF!!!” every time your voice came on. Dial-up means it comes in spits and spurts. It was the noise… honest… nothing else :) :) Will watch it later… kidless..

You are very brave to do a video and post it online, much more brave than I.

Hope you had a great birthday.

    Hugs.

  4. Niksmom:

Happy Happy Birthday! You look smashing! And, um, yeah…do they count differently in the UK? ;-) LOL

  5. Angela:

I loved the video!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!

  6. Angela DeRossett:

Happy birthday–and you are gorgeous! Love the hair, love the accent…you’ve exceeded our expectations. I love how you said ‘the boys are autistic, and they’re doing fine’. I can’t count the number of times I catch myself saying this very thing. Very fantastic & brave!!

  7. buffalodickdy:

    You are delightful!

  8. Mary-LUE:

Awesome! How exciting to see and hear you! Happy Birthday! Let’s see, what else? Oh, three kids and an international move? That is a lot in 15 years I think.

Thanks so much for doing the meme. You’re the best!

  9. osh:

Maddy you are just wonderful! Happy Birthday!

Though I must confess, my computer doesn’t have speakers (sorta wasted on the deaf part of me) so I just imagined you said lots of brilliant and witty and charming bits!

    HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

  10. Bonnie:

Happy Birthday Maddy! It’s awesome sort of meeting you, in a one sided sort of way! It’s so funny, but the way you portray yourself (you’re quite self depricating just like me), you look nothing like I would have imagined! Nothing bad mind you, but you are lovely, and it looks like your children keep you in great shape! Thanks so much for sharing, I’m sure it feels weird but I think a lot of readers enjoyed seeing the real deal!

  11. Liz Ditz:

Maddy, so nice to see and hear you at last! Happy birthday.

  12. Jocelyn:

I have to vote for a once-a-week video, please. This was a distinct pleasure, a real treat to “meet” you (as Bonnie said). I feel so lucky to have seen you speak and move and to now have a persona in my head when I read you.

You showed your pottery too fast; I want to see it better!

    You’re a charmer.

  13. Andrea:

So nice to see you, Maddy!! Happy Birthday :-D

  14. Cyndi:

Good to see you! Your house looks fab! And is that a pool or a fountain I hear in the background? Ahhh, what I would give to live in sunny CA!

  15. Joeymom:

Wow, you are beautiful! Great job with the video! I have to agree with Jocelyn- we want a longer shot of the pottery to see it better!

  16. kal:

    Happy Birthday Maddy! Smashing video.

  17. osh:

    PS
My husband thinks you are hot stuff!

  18. Leanne:

That was brilliant. Absolutely fantastic. I loved seeing you and hearing you speak. My favorite part was your ‘causal use of American coloquialism’. *grin*

  19. Shelia:

Happy Birthday! You are lovely and warm and fun! Great video! I so enjoyed “meeting” you!

  20. Melissa:

    HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!

Great video and yes oh so brave. I giggled about the pottery and doing it “again and again and again”. Can we say repetitive behaviors? hehe Of course those who don’t understand autism won’t get the humor in my statement. :D

  21. lAA and Family:

Great job, you should get in front of the camera on your blog more often!

  22. tulipmom:

I too laughed at the pottery perseveration. I adore your hair! Sending birthday wishes.

  23. Heffalump:

Lovely to have a face and voice to imagine when I am reading your blog now…and a lovely face it is too.

  24. graceunderautsim:

wow! You are so brave and lovely wrapped into one video. I love having a true to life picture of you to go with your writing now. Happy B-day again!

  25. Memphis Steve:

You are brave to do a video. You look great, though, so perhaps that makes it easier? I don’t know. I loved this, but if it becomes a trend I’ll have to buy a collection of masks or something in order to keep up. Or perhaps I’ll hire a stand-in.

  26. Stomper Girl:

Seeing as it was your birthday I suppose I won’t nag but I swear you missed out a couple of points… Happy birthday, anyway. Lovely to *see* you.

  27. tlchang:

Happy Birthday!!! How fabulous it was to *see* and hear you! Beautiful and elegantly accented… I’ve succumbed to putting photos of myself on my blog (showing book signings or whatnot) but don’t feel nearly courageous enough for video. Medal of bravery to you!

  28. Michelle at Scribbit:

So THAT’S how to look elegant, witty and amazing on camera–

    Go figure!

And Happy Birthday from me too–

I love the gentle trickly water sound in the background. Relaxed me :)

  29. melody is slurping life:

    Happy Happy Birthday!

    1. You are gorgeous.
    2. Loved hearing you speak. Being a southern USA girl, I adore accents…because you know I don’t have one.
    3. Were you counting on your fingers?
    4. Totally loved this!
    5. I don’t know how the hell to get a video from my video camera to online. I’ve tried. YouTube and Vimeo hate me.

  30. excavator:

Happy Birthday, Maddy. It was delightful to see and hear you.

I’d pictured you shorter, still petite, with dark curly hair. Don’t know where that came from.

Nice to have a face to go with the narrative now.

    (p.s. you look great!

  31. This Little Piggy:

Thunderous applause from the peanut gallery! :o )

  33. Marla:

Awesome! This was so neat to see you! You are so pretty. Happy Birthday! Thanks for sharing this. I loved it!

  34. Bad mommy:

Happy birthday! It’s good to see the person behind the riotous voice. Be well!

  35. Margaret (maknj):

    Happy Birthday!
