Anyone for tennis?

I collect the children from school to be immediately buried in half a hundred weight of trees.

What is wrong with these people? Haven’t they heard of the paperless society?

We have the technology, it’s called e-mail.

I am grossly grumpy as I sort through three sets of identical A4 sheets of paper, often with a mere one liner. I concentrate on a huge wad of stapled sheets with class room rules, as rules are made to be broken. I am to review the rules with my son before we pen our respective signature to the contract. My ‘fairness’ antennae are all full tweak and twitching.

My mind begins to “Whitter.”

I wonder if they use natural organic dyes for these papers?

I wonder if they use ground ant bodies for ink? I come to line 5 which reads:-

All games are ‘open.’ Do not tell another student, ‘You can’t play.’

Game, set and perfect match for the whole school year.

Lucky us.

Of course other people overcome common difficulties in the public school system by “homeschooling” and boy does my hat go off to “them” or rather, I take off my crown, but I’ll sure be careful not to sit on the pointy jewels.

The days are so short, but there’s always time for a “snack.”

When I went to my daughter’s kindergarten orientation, we got a book - literally. I’m always thinking about the possibility of homeschooling, but I don’t know if I have the patience.

    Have a great school year!!

Here’s planning for you - talked to the music teacher last night at eldest’s karate class. They run on a 6 day cycle and little boy’s class gets music 3 of those days from 3 to 3:25pm. That’s it. Little boy since he takes the special ed bus leaves at 3pm to get ready to leave by 3:15. So, he doesn’t get music at all next year. His classmates will be lucky to get 15min each of these periods again to get on the bus at 3:25.

Good thing little boy is starting piano lessons next Saturday.

I view school more as respite/extra - both are in regular classrooms - since I homeschool on top. I should have the Gr 3 math curriculum redone by Oct just in time for them to start Gr 4 after the Gr 3 review.

We get reams of paper from each of my kid’s backpacks every wednesday. It’s basically spam via dead trees…and the shool has the audacity to preach conservation.

unfortunately not all parents have email or maintain even the same residence and email during a school year. the teachers and admins at schools are kinda forced to use paper to be fair to everyone. i do agree with you though

All of my boys went to elementary and middle school ‘in the system’, but the older two boys were home schooled through High School. That could ONLY HAPPEN because SWMBO is/was a SAHM.

SWMBO = She Who Must Be Obeyed
SAHM = Stay At Home Mom.

I hear you. We are drawing on our useless handouts.

I guess schools aren’t part of the paperless society?

Yep, I homeschool these days, too, and it’s made a HUGE difference to Feral Beast.
Teachers and a classroom aide with attitudes of indifference, bullying that went on and on with excuses handed out, blaming my son (the victim) in most cases (even when we witnessed several attacks with our own eyes), etc.
Now I’ve got a happy 11 yr old child who gallops through high school text books, reading, writing his own blog and much more relaxed :)
