1. long handled things are the current talismen therefore benign and possibly beneficial
2. Laser pointer, jolly handy for getting reader’s eyes to track.
2 bGotta be clean or possibly die!
3. Theraband – helps keep those legs and toes in repose and increases bum to seat ratio.
4. Vibrating spoon and mouth massager as it makes those tricky textures more tolerable
5. Do not enter or do not touch precious thing underneath, territorialism isn’t always bad.
6. Balm for the skin and therefore the mind
7. Weighted vest to keep people grounded, it can be very inconvenient to have floating children
8. Increase fine motor skill and strength and help mum to boot.
9. P tube to chew. Helps jaw strength and reduces anxiety [take note smokers and other oral fixaters]
10. Another vest that squeezes, made to measure with Velcro [put your ear plugs in first]
11. Not for fighting but for protecting delicate digits.
12. T tube as above in 9.
13. A delightful Christening gift both a whistle and a rattle and the only instrument of torture.

  1. Bonnie:

ok, I got 9 out of 13! Can I have a little bounce? I was thinking of buying Casey a P tube, he chews on everything!

  2. JoyMama:

We loves us some chewy-tubes and weighted vests!

However, I would have to say that anything can be an instrument of torture given the proper conditions…

  3. furiousBall:

hah, well i only got 8. i didn’t know what the p tube was.

  4. This Little Piggy:

I didn’t get them all right. Can I still come over and bounce? :o)

  5. Leanne:

That was fun, but I still only got 9. Do you find the vests are beneficial? We tried a weighted blanket for Patrick when he wouldn’t sleep and it didn’t help at all, but I was wondering about a vest for in the daytime when he’s feeling like he needs some input.

  6. mama mara:

Coveting that squeezy vest something fierce over here. Where do you get one of those?

  7. lceel:

I don’t EVEN want to tell you where my mind went when I saw #12. EEEEWWWWWW.

  8. Barbara:

You provide me with much new and useful terminology, Maddy. Love - “bum to seat ratio”.

Perhaps the trampoline will replace, almost the pool at turn of season?

  9. Bad mommy:

I gotta declare - a full 12. We must have similar sensory issues around here! Though we’re not fans of the “T” chewy — not as tough as the “P” chewy, and therefore likely to fall down on the job.

At the moment, we like to be squished. Cover child up in a blanket, lay on child. Count audibly to 5. Get off child. We used to have a game that we played with this, but have dispensed with the pretense - we just need the deep pressure too much. All nervous about the start of school and making mommy crazy.

I’m off to press the children and give dinner to the clothes. Or something.

  10. Bad mommy:

I almost forgot - we’re just as likely to wear the plunger for a hat. Accordingly, we keep a spare that never sees practical use. . . .

  11. Marita:

I got most of them, did confuse with what would be considered instruments of torture in our house.

Ironically we just got Heidi one of the chew tubes pictured in #12. It has not left her since we got it on Wednesday, she would not sleep until I hung it up close to her bed last night.

All I could see in #1 was the giant toothbrush hiding up the back. Yeah there is a reason our toilet brush is kept under lock and key.

  12. buffalodickdy:

I see you ran out of your medication again… either that, or I did…

  13. rhemashope:

This was great! I actually learned a lot. #1 could be an instrument of torture (for me) as I once caught my kid with the plunger upside down drinking from it like it was a cup. My screams could be heard down the street.
We have several #9’s. We have a pressure vest like #10 that R uses in therapy and it really does seem to help her focus better.
    Thanks!

  14. Michelle at Scribbit:

Oh you’re funny! Great post–very creative. Lately I’ve been really stretching to come up with lists.

  15. Carrie:

Rojo has the SAME exact boxing gloves!

  16. Angela:

I knew a lot of them!! (For once a picture puzzle I can follow!)

Are you down to *3* soaps in the bathroom now??? If so, congrats on the progress around your house!

    If not, ah well…

  17. Amy:

For the writing upside down part on future quizzes: http://www.revfad.com/flip.html
Hours of fun. Or, at least a good 5 minutes.

  18. Joeymom:

Andy gets the free bounce. He knew the instrument of torture was the rattle. :)
