I have to second Jocelyn: wonderful phrasing. This week legos are dat fing in my house – at least of danger to MY life, the kids seem to be nearly impervious to stepping on them for reasons that escape me.

The thing that is startling is that he recognizes the danger to his life. So many autistic don’t process that kind of informnation that well.

Once upon a couple years ago, used to take Charlie to Gymnastics class. It was for “typical” kids; I was Charlie’s aide. The kids would often talk to me as the only grown-up around and one young man was very careful to “read the labels”—-on the gym mats. He informed me that he couldn’t use the mat because of “possible death.”
Careful is as careful does.
