I remember one night one had gotten into the house and we had a room full of company. The older women were determined to get it out of there... they called it the "devil's riding horse"... I've heard others say it was the "devil's walking stick"... Then when I finally had Biology in high school I learned they were preying mantises". Now I'm not scared of them. What we do have a lot of this year are great big dragonflies. Apparently they can't see the net surrounding the trampline, becuase then fly right into it and become a "captive audience" for the bouncers! It has been lurking around here for a few days, first spotted resting on the living room lamp. It is now in a box on the front porch waiting for us to find it some food.
