Opposites attract – a snippet
My 'silent' son has a sudden burst of chat. I beam as he chats, as it's one of those monologues that I don't want to staunch. Interruption generally equates to stall. I know more facts about Pokemons that I could ever once imagined. I am so impressed with his ability to sit stationary on a chair whilst his legs pump beneath him, a performance worthy of any cyclist on the Tour de France. As he chats his fingers shred the paper on the wax crayons and snap their little necks into fragments as the words flow in an endless stream. My facility of speech seems positively feeble by comparison. If any parts of my anatomy were as busily frenetic as his, I should have no choice but to remain silent.

LOL! *thinking of the poor dear crayons* I know what you mean by ‘the stall’. We sit and listen….wanting to ask or comment but know if we do the prattle will stop.

We are very lucky to know lots of things we never would have known otherwise, aren’t we?

I interrupt little boy when he’s playing sometimes, and I know better… b/c I get an instant “No”, to whatever I’ve said, and he wanders off.
Sigh….
Hugs… and hoping you’re getting more sleep.

The words are back!!!! :0)
As I’m writing this Frog is sitting in the big wing-back chair rattling off a constant stream of babble, foot swinging and bouncing merrily along.

Your understanding of your boys always makes me feel warm and fuzzy. What a good mom!

I would love to witness one of those monologues and see the thoughtful look on your face, but it’s easy to imagine b/c you describe it so well.

Am loving the spinning plates image… that’s been a big metaphor for me lately…
And maybe one of these days we’ll have a switch flip at our house and the words come pouring out too. Who knows? Thanks for the snippet!

You describe the moment so wonderfully well.
Heidi has just started showing an interest in Pokemon, wonder if it will be a long term or short term thing in our house.
