@ Sue: When I was waiting tables, I asked my boss the headwaiter how much sh!t I had to take from the customers, and he said, "All of it." It was right stressfull at times, and our restaurant was on the top of a building about 20 stories tall, and there was an open-air walkway outside, with a safety rail which really wasn't that high. Nonetheless we managed to control our violent passions and give good service.

If I had to be nice to unreasonable customers (and I did) I have absolutely no respect for that doodah of a waiter who failed to understand and comply with a reasonable request, spoken in short words of plain English.

Hi,

My name is Bayla and I work for an organization called Friendship Circle. Friendship Circle provides advocacy, support, love and most importantly friendship to individuals with special needs through our volunteer-based extra curricular and critical life skills training programs.

With 80 branches worldwide, we have created break-through awareness among the teenage population by pairing up typically developing teens with a special needs buddy for each program. Our main branch, located in West Bloomfield, MI is housed in a state-of-the-art facility called LifeTown. Within LifeTown is a one of a kind indoor village which is used to teach people with special needs the skills they need to function in our world. At Weinberg Village we learn how to fill out deposit and withdrawal slips at the bank, make and keep appointments, be punctual for scheduled events, check books out of the library, pay for services given to us, and purchase items at the local retailer.

Friendship Circle is currently participating in a competition through Facebook. The winner of this competition will receive $1MM to expand their programs.

Please vote for us at www.votefc.com. Please encourage your friends to vote.

Your vote will help put a smile on a child’s face!

In friendship,

Bayla

Seems to me that with very little cue, one could immediately go into a format of treating anyone as if they have 'special needs'. Adults with 'special needs' are in many employments. We find the most consistent need to be e-special-ly communicative with the office persons at a school or church. Don't know why, but these people usually require extra care to get our needs known.

Wow. I hope the server is new. You're right, though. A good server takes more skill than most people (and their pay) gives them credit for.
